HEY GUYS, THE REDDYS ARE SITARA'S FATHER'S SIDE FAMILY AND THE VARMAS ARE SITARA'S MASI'S IN-LAWS. I HOPE YOU DON'T GET CONFUSED.

HERE IS THE FIRST CHAPTER, ENJOY 😭😭

AUTHOR'S POV

The early morning in the Reddy household carried the weight of rituals rather than joy. Sharadha Reddy ensured every ceremony was performed with strict precision. The house was filled with the scent of turmeric, flowers, and sacred chants, yet beneath it all lingered an emotional distance that no ritual could hide.

Sitara sat in the center of the courtyard during the Mangala Snanam, as turmeric-infused water was gently poured over her. Her body remained still, the golden-tinted water flowing over her like blessings meant for someone else. Her expression did not change. In that stillness, she looked ethereal—like she belonged to the ritual, but not to the world around it.

Even as chants echoed through the courtyard, she did not react, as if emotions had learned to stay silent inside her.

Sharadha Reddy stood nearby, observing everything carefully, making sure no tradition was broken. The air felt heavy—but not as heavy as Sitara's silence. It wasn't emptiness... it was the absence of belonging.

As the morning progressed, the Pellikuthuru ceremony began. Sitara was dressed in a soft yellow half saree with a matching blouse and ghagra, while a white chunri rested over her shoulders. Turmeric was applied gently, marking her as part of a sacred tradition she was being pushed into.

Kaira moved around with visible excitement, her laughter blending into the festive environment. But Sitara remained still, her calm face unreadable, as if she were watching everything from afar instead of being part of it.

By evening, the Mehendi ceremony began. The courtyard filled with intricate henna designs and the fragrance of herbs. Sitara sat quietly as mehendi artists decorated her hands, her gaze lowered.

It was then that Sharadha Reddy's voice cut sharply through the gathering.

"Why didn't you complete the rituals when you already knew about her wedding?"

A heavy silence followed as all attention shifted toward her.

"Kavita, you said she's like your daughter... that you would take care of my granddaughter. Is this how you're marrying her? Would you marry your own daughter like this? We are still alive. Thank God I came today... otherwise you would have married my granddaughter without our rituals."

Her voice carried authority, disappointment, and control.

Then she called Ishika.

"Ishika ikkadiki raa."
(Ishika, come here.)

"Aaa ostuna nanaamma!" she replied, running toward her.
(Yes grandma, I'm coming!)

"Akka ki tinipiyu. Ame ki mehendi pedtunnaru."
(Go feed your sister, they are applying mehendi.)

"Sare nanaamma."
(Okay grandma.)

Ishika gently fed Sitara while she sat there, expressionless, her eyes distant—as if she was present but not truly there.

SITARA'S POV

I woke up with a strange heaviness in my chest... like something was already wrong before I even opened my eyes.

The silence in the room didn't feel peaceful today.

It felt like it was waiting for something to break.

Abhimaan Rathod.

His name had been repeated around me for days, like a warning I was too young to understand. Not a common man... not someone ordinary. Everyone feared him.

I didn't know why.

I still don't.

I thought my life was simple. Maybe even happy.

I was happy with Kaira... my college, my studies, those small moments of freedom that felt like everything.

And then yesterday... everything changed.

Nanaamma came suddenly, saying mom had called her for my wedding—oopss... I mean masi maa.

A bitter chuckle escaped my lips.

We'll talk about her later... because honestly, that woman is a storm in my life.

But yes... I didn't even know I was getting married until yesterday.

And the worst part?

This marriage was never meant for me.

It was for Naina akka.

I don't even understand how I got dragged into something that was never mine.

My thoughts broke when the door creaked open.

Masi maa walked in with a soft smile. She came closer, gently caressing my hair and kissing my forehead.

For a second... I closed my eyes.

It felt safe.

But that feeling didn't last even a heartbeat.

Her grip tightened in my hair suddenly, and she yanked it harshly.

A painful shriek escaped my lips.

"Don't you dare tell your grandmother or anyone that you don't know about this marriage. Got it?"

My breath hitched as I stared at her.

"And listen carefully... not a single person from your in-laws should know you are Sitara Reddy. You are Sitara Varma. Understand?"

Tears filled my eyes instantly.

I nodded.

Because saying no was never an option.

After that... everything moved too fast.

I got ready in silence, my hands trembling slightly. The saree felt heavier than it should.

A cream silk pattu saree with a rich red blouse and matching border draped over me. It looked royal.

I was looking pretty but...

But it didn't feel like mine.

But it didn't feel like mine

-----

As the car moved closer to the wedding venue, my heartbeat grew heavier with every passing second. I didn't know what I was feeling... fear, confusion, or something I couldn't name yet. The world outside the window looked too alive for how numb I felt inside.

The wedding venue appeared like something out of tradition itself—a grand South Indian mandapam, decorated with fresh jasmine garlands hanging in long layers from bamboo pillars. Banana leaves lined the entrance, mango leaves tied above every arch swayed slightly in the morning breeze. The scent of sandalwood, camphor, and flowers filled the air, mixing with the sound of nadaswaram playing in the background.

It looked beautiful.

But I didn't feel like I belonged in it.

As I stepped out of the car, my hands tightened slightly. That's when I felt it... a presence. Heavy. Controlled. Overwhelming.

Abhimaan Rathod.

He entered the mandap like silence itself had learned to walk. Every movement of his carried authority, every step making people unconsciously step aside. I didn't look at him. I lowered my gaze immediately.

I didn't know why... but I couldn't gather the courage to look up.

Maybe fear.

Maybe something deeper I didn't want to understand.

I had seen him once before... just once. Kaira had shown me his picture, saying he was "handsome." I remembered smiling then... maybe even joking about it.

But now... I didn't want to see his face at all.

Because something inside me already knew—

If I looked at him once... everything would change.

---

Each ritual that followed felt like a chain tightening slowly around my life.

 JEELAKARRA BELLAM

They placed the jeelakarra and bellam together, pressing it gently between us, and I felt something strange stir inside me. Bitter and sweet—so different, yet forced to become one... just like us. I didn't know whether to smile or feel afraid. Was this what marriage truly meant? Two people, unknown, unprepared, still expected to blend perfectly. As I looked at him for a fleeting second, I wondered... would we balance each other, or would one overpower the other?

would we balance each other, or would one overpower the other?

MANGALSUTRA DHARANAM

When the mangalsutra touched my neck, my breath hitched for a moment. The thread felt heavier than it should have been, as if it carried the weight of promises I hadn't made myself. With each knot he tied, I felt a part of my old life slipping away, quietly, without asking me. This wasn't just a chain... it was a bond, a mark, a silent announcement that I belonged to someone now. Forever... such a big word, yet it came so easily in that moment.

TALAMBRALU

TALAMBRALU

The rice fell over me in soft showers, some grains getting stuck in my hair, some sliding down my face. People around us laughed, cheered, teasing us to pour more, to "win." I lifted my hand hesitantly and let the rice fall over him too, my fingers trembling just a little. It was supposed to be playful... light... joyful. And maybe, for a second, it really was. But beneath that laughter, my heart whispered something else—was this how our life would be? A game of who gives more, who takes more... or who understands more?

or who understands more?

BOTTU (FOREHEAD MARKING)

I felt the soft touch of kumkum being placed on my forehead, warm against my skin. Such a small gesture... yet it changed everything. It felt like a quiet acceptance, not just by him, but by the world watching us. My reflection would never look the same again. That tiny red mark carried tradition, expectation, and a new identity I was still trying to grasp. I didn't move... I just let it settle, like I was learning to settle into this new life.

KAALAMETTALU (TOE RINGS)

The cold touch of the silver rings against my toes made me flinch slightly. For a second, they felt unfamiliar... almost intrusive. But as they slid into place, they stayed there—firm, unmoving. Just like this reality. I looked down at them, realizing they weren't just ornaments... they were a symbol. A reminder. That I was no longer just me. I was someone's wife now. The thought felt distant... like it belonged to someone else, not me.

like it belonged to someone else, not me

SINDOORAM / VELIMUDUPU

When he filled the red sindoor into my hairline, everything seemed to slow down. I could feel each grain settle, marking me in a way that couldn't be erased easily. A new name, a new identity, a new life... all placed into that single line of red. And then, unexpectedly, a tiny pinch fell onto my nose. For a brief second, I almost smiled. It felt oddly human... imperfect... real. But even that small moment couldn't hide the truth—this wasn't just a ritual. It was a transformation... one I wasn't sure I was ready for.

And somewhere between all those rituals

And somewhere between all those rituals... all those chants... a quieter realization settled inside me, heavier than anything else.
SILENT REALIZATION

In all of this... I only saw him twice. Not properly... not enough to understand anything... just brief, fleeting glances that felt more accidental than intentional.

But him...

He never looked at me. Not once did I feel his eyes on me. Not once did I feel seen. Was it just me missing it? Or... did he really not look?

The thought stayed, lingering uncomfortably in my chest. Because in a moment where two lives were being tied together... where I was being asked to accept him, to belong to him...

He didn't even look at me.

Maybe he did... and I didn't notice.

But maybe...

He didn't.

AUTHORS POV

Before the final rituals could complete, one more tradition unfolded.

Jhoote Churaai (stealing groom's shoes).

As Abhimaan stepped away for a ritual, Ishika and Kaira exchanged a look before quickly grabbing his shoes. The moment felt almost playful, breaking the heavy tension for a brief second. They ran lightly, hiding them, while whispers of amusement passed through the crowd.

When they finally returned, they came forward, slightly breathless, holding the shoes carefully wrapped in their pallu as if they were precious treasures.

Kaira smiled softly.

"Jiju meri dost ka khayal rakhna, woh bohot masoom hai."
(Brother-in-law, please take care of my friend, she is very innocent.)

Ishika stepped closer, her voice softer but firm with emotion.

"Bava please treat her well."
(Brother-in-law, please take care of her.)

No one expected him to respond.

No one expected him to agree.

But Abhimaan Rathod simply gave a slow, controlled nod.

Just one nod.

And somehow... that small gesture shocked his own family more than anything else.

His men immediately moved, and without hesitation, he handed over money—25 lakhs and 25 lakhs, each given to the two girls as part of the ritual tradition.

A quiet wave passed through the crowd.

Even his family members looked uneasy... not angry, but unsettled. As if they were watching something unpredictable unfold in real time.

Some felt fear.

Some felt pity.

Especially when their eyes drifted toward Sitara... standing silently, unaware of everything happening around her, lost in her own world of silence.

---

Sitara, on the other hand, did not understand the exchange of money, the reactions, or the meaning behind the smiles and tension.

She stood there... blank.

Still.

Unaware that her life had already been signed over in ways she hadn't even noticed.

Kaira and Ishika slowly came to her, eyes already wet.

The Reddy side tried to hold themselves together, but tears slipped through anyway. Even the air felt heavier now.

The Varma family stood formally... some wiping fake tears, some simply watching silently, their expressions unreadable.

Sitara didn't react.

She simply hugged Ishika first... then Kaira... then her nanaamma tightly. No words left her mouth. Nothing dramatic. Just silence wrapped in emotion she didn't know how to express.

As she turned to leave, the Varma family members stepped forward and hugged her too. She didn't want it... but she didn't resist. Her arms slowly returned the gesture out of reflex more than feeling.

Then she turned.

Walked forward.

And sat inside the car.

The door closed.

And as the engine started... Sitara Reddy finally left everything behind without knowing what she had just entered.

SITARA'S POV

I was lost in my daze. I was scared—very scared. Waise toh main strong hoon aur Sitara Reddy kisi se nahi darti, but aaj thoda sa darr lag raha hai. Yeh "saand sa bada insaan" mere bas mein hai ya nahi, isiliye I thought...

(English meaning: Usually I am strong and Sitara Reddy is not afraid of anyone, but today I feel a little scared. This huge man is not in my control, that's why I thought this.)

But still, I composed myself and was looking outside. "OMG Sitara, you're married????" I thought. And then I heard—

"Nahi behen woh Naina Chaina ne kar li shaadi. Of course tu ne ki shaadi the Abhimaan Rathod se." my subconscious mocked.

I rolled my eyes internally and spoke, "Woh hi toh dikkat hai gadhi, bhala woh Naina Chaina ne mujhe kyun bithadiya mandap me jabki the Abhimaan Rathod ko toh Naina se shaadi karni thi. He meant elder daughter naaa." I said to my subconscious mind like I'm explaining to a 5-year-old kid.

(English meaning: That's the problem, idiot. Why did Naina and them make me sit in the mandap when Abhimaan Rathod was supposed to marry Naina, the elder daughter.)

Phewwww... sometimes I feel I'm having a kind like goddd. Why can't he understand I have business to do and not overexplain to him? Huff. I huffed and then he spoke—

"Haan jaise ki tu toh bada pradhan mantri hai, yeh Mukesh Ambani hai toh ek minute me crore kama rahi hai."

And I ignored it royally. Hehe. Of course no one can win from me. I smirked evilly.

Then my evil mind vanished suddenly seeing the car stop.

"Aur smirk kar behen evilly," my subconscious mocked.

And I mentally cried. "Dushman ki kya zaroorat jab aise dimaag ho," I thought.

(English meaning: Who needs enemies when your own mind is like this.)

And then—

"Tere me dimaag hai???? Really? Mujhe laga jo bhi thodi bohot intelligent baatein karti ho woh main karti hoon, tu toh rehne de behen," said my subconscious mind.

Can I get out of my role and win like a kid please? I thought.

And it spoke again—

"Nopeee."

And then I saw the car door opening and I got down and saw this Lucifer walking ahead of me. His mansion was so big and elegant. I always admired it from afar, but who knew I'll be entering it? Not only entering... but entering like his wife.

I huffed.

Then the Ghar Pravesh happened with rice and all etc.

Suddenly someone jumped in front of me and I got startled and shrieked. Then I saw some guys laughing. They looked older than me. I blinked my eyes thrice in confusion and then they spoke—

"Welcome home bhabhi, I'm your pyra saaa dever Rohit."

And then another one said—

"And I'm the youngest bhabhi."

And then—

"And I'm your sab se bada wala dever bhabhi maa."

Another guy said—

"I'm Arjun."

And the younger one said—

"I'm Kabir."

I nodded my head. I don't know what to speak. The Lucifer left long ago.

Then Rohit spoke—

"Arey bhabhi yaar itna stress nahi lete, thik hai? Breath in breath out. See, do it like I'm doing."

And I copied his actions.

"Haan malum hai bhai thode se khadus hai, but aap mere paas aana, main aapko bacha lunga unse."

(English meaning: Yes I know he is a little strict, but come to me, I will save you from him.)

He said, puffing his chest in pride.

I widened my eyes. "Woh... woh sach mein khadus hai kya???"

And he nodded.

"Aise waise khadus nahi hai bhabhi maa... maha maha khadus aur khatarnak hai." said Kabir.

I gulped. "Hayee bhagwan, main kaise rahungi is sanki saand ke saath," I murmured.

(English meaning: Oh God, how will I live with this crazy bull.)

And the three of them burst out laughing out loud.

"Okey bhabhi," said Rohit.

"Bhai sahab aaj tak bhai ki baizati nahi suni maine," said Arjun.

And I widened my eyes listening to them.

I was playing with my fingers and spoke calmly, my voice came out timid—

"Aap 3 please woh sanki insaan ko na kuch mat bolna please... unke baare mein maine suna hai woh mujhe zinda chabajainge."

And they burst again laughing.

"Okay bhabhi, we'll save you."

Then Kabir said—

"Abay saloo khud ko kaise bachogi? Bade aayi bhabhi ko bachane wali."

Then they stood straight and said in a composed voice like strict teachers—

"Welcome home bhabhi. Hope you stay happy and safe in our house. You'll be happy and safe, but we don't know about bhaiyya."

And I gave them a betrayed look.

"Dhoke baaz hai sab ke sab."

And they spoke—

"Aise na kahiye bhabhi jaan, yaha dukhra hai yaha." said Rohit, the most dramatic one.

And I sighed.

Then they touched my feet one by one saying blessings.

"Bhabhi please bless us."

And before I could speak, they said—

"Aap bhabhi ho, bhai ki ardhangini ho, humari bhabhi maa... you can't stop us from respecting you."

And they left.

Then some lady came and said—

"Beta main tumhari mother-in-law Sunita hoon."

And I touched her feet. She stopped me.

"Beti pair nahi chhoote."

(English meaning: Daughter, don't touch feet.)

I blinked my eyes.

She said—

Everyone is asleep. You go and rest well. Continue tomorrow morning.

I nodded, unsure of what to do.

And then she took me to the bedroom.
